Yes, I too would like to see an IDI 7.3 in an RBV.
Nice 2 1/2 year bump, BTW.

well its gunna fit just less leg room with fire wall rerouted to make more room for the 7.3idi. I have the motor just need to pick up some motor mounts and as far as frame strength my ranger is siting on a f250 frame. so im no where worried about weight and power of the 7.3 idi

Thanks, Allan D.! I started this thinking I'd see something about adapting a VW or something, and it went away...But I'll keep hoping I can find a VW or Mercedes adaptation that would fit. As my sig says, the day is young...and I've only started the search. On I go.

I agree, freckles. I would love to have the 1.9 tdi on my Passat installed in a Ranger. My wife works at Cummins and is fairly high up in the organization and is always trying to get me to go on business trips with her. She often takes some of the kids--she goes to China, India or to any of the several locations in the US. I agreed to go to Nashville with her if she would ride in my smokey old '96 Tdi. It's smokey when it's cold and some of that is probably due to the fact that the previous owner installed a flashed ecu. But all she knows of it is me pulling out of the driveway. Seeing the old buggy with 308,000 miles on it knock down a consistent 50mpg with the cruise on at 70mph--and that the smoke goes away when it reaches operating temp--that gave her a good deal of respect for it.

Not only that, with a the tune for bad or good, you can leave in third gear and spin the tires. You can go from a stop in fifth gear, not put your foot on the gas, and get up to 26mph by easing the clutch up. It doesn't have a ton of power on the top end, but it has huge torque. It's perfect for a small truck. I would love to have it in my B2. The pushrod 4.0 is a great motor for this kind of work. The 1.9 Tdi is better.

You want serious sting down low in a truck motor. The Tdi can provide that.

My credo
I need more sleep.
Diesels are about to be hurt, the EPA is going to reduce sulfur in diesel by 60%, which will hurt the engines.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
Diesels are about to be hurt, the EPA is going to reduce sulfur in diesel by 60%, which will hurt the engines.
They just dropped it from 500 ppm to 15 ppm in 2007 for on road vehicles and this year for other engines (marine, train, etc).
