I have and Led 3rd brake light installed on my truck and it all works fine, unless the key is switched to the run position. Only in the run position, the light, lights up dim. Kinda like a running light.:icon_confused:

Why does my 3rd brake lamp have a running light...?

Probably for the same reason my airbag light is on (very dim but on) pretty much every circuit has a very small amount of voltage going to it (even with the "switch" off) and since LEDs use so little power and voltage to light up sometimes they are lit. I wouldn't worry about it honestly.

I have that same problem. It started after i put in the LED bulbs and have no idea as to why it does it or how to fix it.

what if you went to radio shack and got a resister to equal the original light bulb.

OK that makes a little more sense, I read in your first post that it was dim. I most have missed the night time part. Only other suggestion I could give ya would be like trail b2 said use a resister. Probably a 500 ohm in series should fix it. The resister would soak up any residual voltage and hopefully clear this up for ya. I'll have to look into this more and get back to you.

How would you wire the resister?

put a miniature relay in there, If it really is being driven by some kind of parasitic supply I doubt it would be enough to pull in a relay.

I suspect one or two of these wired in parallel across the back of the light would stop the parasitic current from lighting the LEDs.

(nevermind the picture, it's wrong, the link is for 50 ohm resistors)

Well, does it do it with a regular bulb? Where did the LED replacement bulb come from? Cheap ones cause issues (I have run into that before, read: made in China. LOL), the more expensive ones will already have a proper resistor wired into it in order to maintain the proper resistance in the cct it is installed into. This happens a lot with turn signals, although in that case you can get a replacement flasher that is LED compatible.
