when did ford change from 'ford blue' on their engines to a yucky green? and why?
and when did ford start using galvinized steel to make the truck bodies?

back in the day, and that's Waaay back, my motors were all blue; 58 T-bird convertible, several 66 mustang convertibles. then i went thru mopar (70 barracuda convert, colors unknown as were the follow up leylands, all converts.) then i did a jimmy work truck-who cares what color it was, it wound up with a ford bed.`
then a toyota hi-lux truck with a capri 2.8 painted with whatever was handy. and a convertible kit. don't remember the colors on the mighty max motors.
now i'm back to fords. the 90 ranger i just sold had a 302. the top of the motor was aluminum so i dont know what color the block was. the 88 i'm customizing- yep, convertible...well removable hardtop for now, the ragtop is next year's project, has a green 2.9 and my 95 ranger has a black 2.3.
so anyway, i'm just wondering what happened to Ford Blue

Used to be black and gold, then various shades of blue, by the time RBV’s came along they went grey.

Black with orange sheetmetal before '65. Blue until the big smoggers died out. I remember seeing the gold in some '50's engines--maybe in an early Lincoln with a 430 or 462.

The only recent Fords I've messed with were 2.8 V6--blue, and 2.9 and 4.0 which are dove gray. I don't know about green.

Motors are mostly aluminum, and you can't see them anyway so why bother with paint. Most have a huge plastic cover you can use for sledding.
