Alright guys, I'm doing the infamous 4.0 swap into my 91 2.9 ranger

. But heres where my confusion comes into play. I'm using a 1992 aerostar and my doner vehicle. Is this harness compatabile with the ranger? Or do i need to go find a ranger harness? I chopped out the engine of the aerostar and have the complete harness. Just noticed there was no fuse box in the bay like the truck does. Soooo it has me wondering if the dash harness works too or not. just want to get my ducks in a row before I get too far ahead of myself.

It should be on the right hand side of the bay. Is there the fuel pump relays on the harness? I mean technically you just need all that was there because it'll be an Aerostar not a ranger

Well the aerostar harness is way different than the ranger. The ranger has an in bay fuse box and the aerostar has all the fuses on the inside box

So now I'm contemplating building my own harness, since the cheapest ranger bay harness is 150 bucks, which i think is way too steep. Currently in a stand still until i figure out what i want to do.

None here have a 4.0 ranger. Or if they do the harness is hacked.

Anyone have the pinout for the bulkhead? I'm gonna do my own harness out of the 2.

Even though the Aerostar is an RBV and the van 4L is an "X" code engine, there are more differences than just the wiring.
The valve cover is different. It can be made to work, but different.
The van uses a different driver side exhaust manifold.
The oil filter to block adapter is different. I don't remember where it hits, but that area is crowded(frame, engine mount, exhaust, radius arm).
And the engine mount to block plates are different.
