She got a little wet on the 4th...



Hoping it's just the computer that's messed up cuz I just put this motor in and it was running great. But knowing my luck I'm sure I screwed the motor up... :sad:

If it sucked in water then yes, motors got a bent Rod and/or broken piston
Google: hydrolock
And remove all spark plugs before trying to crank engine

You need an auto computer if you have an auto trans, computer runs the torque convert clutch(TCC) and the shift to Over drive(3-4 shift) on automatics in '89 model

What if I'm only using 1st and 2nd will it run the motor correctly?

And crap it definitely got water in it, this pan was empty when I started.

I meant if engine was running and it sucked in water thru the intake and into a cylinder, if that happens engine stops suddenly because water doesn't compress like air does, so connecting rod bends or piston breaks, or both.

The milk shake means water got into oil pan and most likely was circulated thru to the bearings, not a good thing but running clean oil for 100 miles then changing it, and filter, again would clean it out.

An auto computer will work in a manual, just not very good. The manual has different idle settings for when you are moving to help you shift etc. I think timing may be different too. I did a manual swap on one and ran an auto computer until I found a manual one

After all the messing around and swapping parts I had 5 and 6 wires on wrong... Stupid Me

Does anybody have any input on waterproofing the computer or are they?

And would the manual computer have a higher idle then? Cuz that would probably actually help off road.
