Can anyone tell me what bulb is used in the instrument cluster of a 2004 Ranger? I have it torn apart and it is not a 194.

If they're for instrument lighting, not a 161 or 194. It's a tiny lamp, #2721. I had to replace mine twice on my '04. Last time, I soldered in a set of white LED's. Those 2721's do not last long, even the 'long life'.

I got them from superbrightleds.com and ordered dropping resistors from mouser.com. I traced checked the polarity while the cluster was still attached to the harness in the truck. Marked polarity, soldered the led's and resistors in place to the cluster. I think I used a 120-ohm 1-watt resistor on each one to handle the led. The only down side is the led's don't dim as low as the regular lamps. I also replaced the 2 lamps in the heater controls, using the same procedure.

Here is the led's I used: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/through-hole/8mm-white-led-360-degree-viewing-angle-11000-millilumens/342/1289/
