So, i have a 2003 4.0 ranger that overheated and now has a head gasket leak, and i also need to replace the timing chains. The drivers side chain is really loud. However, I found a 2011 4.0 from a wrecked ranger and if that's compatible would rather swap that in. I assume some brackets, etc would have to be swapped over, but has anyone done this and know if it's a reasonable swap? Thanks

Welcome to TRS :)

Block and heads are the same
Wiring harness between 2003 and 2011 will have changed so swap over your intake, upper and lower, with wiring harness to 2011 engine

Oil pan may or may not need to be swapped depending on 2WD or 4x4 matchup
