Well, first I'll explain the scenario. I've got a 2.3 liter 4 banger out of an 83 ranger, I've stuffed this into a 72 suzuki LJ20, and it is a definate no-go on putting the stock radiator in front of this. My two options here would be to run another, smaller radiator, or run the stock one up in the back on the cage. My first option for a smaller radiator was one from a 75 Datsun, which I have a spare one of. This radiator is smaller in overall size (18" tall, 20" wide overall) but also about two times as thick. This is even a bit too wide, though the height would work perfectly. So what I'm thinking of is a radiator that is 18" x 18" overall, with the same thickness as the datsun radiator. So I guess what my question is, is has anybody run a smaller yet thicker radiator on one of these engines? If so what was the application (what was it from)?
This will be used mostly at slow speeds as it is a trail rig, so it won't have much air running through other than from an electric fan or two. Any ideas would be extremely helpful and apreciated.
