my truck is a low rider ranger and i sanded the entire truck and did all the body work my self with the guidance of a pro. Instead of paying 5000 dollars to get it painted i took it to Macao and payed 2500. I got the worst paint job ever and made then fix all the paint mess ups. its already chipping in the fenders and i haven't put more than 300 miles on it sceince the new paint. :annoyed:

They use shitty paint.

You can easily spend 2500 in materials alone when doing a professional paint job.

With a little bit of research online you could've found this out, it's quite well known that Macco uses the cheapest methods/materials that they can get away with. With all that time and effort in prep work done to your truck, why not pay the extra money so it comes out right?

You get what you pay for.

Find a local shop. They are hurting for business and would be glad to shoot a truck for hundreds, not thousands. If all the prep work is done and they are just shooting it they change very little. Better yet. Shoot it yourself. For $2500, you could buy a good compressor, gun and supplies. Paint the truck and you still have a compressor and all the supplies and hundreds of dollars still in your pocket. I guarantee a beginner with good paint could do just as good a job as macco and it will last longer.

Line the garage with plastic, crack the garage door and put a fan in the "painting booth" to force paint fumes out. Wet the floor and paint away. Just use long strokes and remeber, less is better. It's better to use a lot of thin coats then to try cover it all at once. A little internet search will give you the basics.

I painted my whole truck for 50 bucks........... rattle rattle. I didn't prep it...... or wash it. I just kept an extra can in the cab for when the dirt chipped off.

I'll get pics up soon, made them fix errors. But still flawed. Ya I know know a good paint job could cost5000+ dollars:(

If you knew that, where was the red flag when Maaco quoted $2500?

I know guys here that do a better job than Maaco out of their garage.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. The good part is that the body work is done. If it doesn't flake off you have paint it or have it painted over the new paint. Unfortunately it will cost you more.........sorry.
