This is my first big project since my motor swap back in September 2011. Had a 2.5L went to a built and bored 4.0L. I will be starting a Dana 30 SAS and an 8.8 swap. Doing the whole nine yards, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, steering....all new and hd.

Parts:
Front:
- HP Dana 30, 456 gears, e-locker, custom truss
- Upgraded Alloy USA 30-spline 4340 shafts
- 760 u-joints
- Chromoly balljoints
- Beefed up cover
- Ironman Longarm Kit
- Wrangler Rock Krawler Coils
-GM 1-ton steering links
-Toyota Steering box

Rear:
-Explorer 31-spline 8.8
-456 gears, Detroit locker
-Spring-over conversion
-6in Ranger leafs
-Belltec Drop shackle
- Bluetorch DIY diffcover

Thats most of whats going under the truck have to some custom work:icon_welder: as well but I will post up about that when I get there. Any input or help will be helpful. Wish me luck!

Only thing I'd do different (other than the D30) is 64" GM springs instead of the Ranger springs. Especially if your using such a soft coil up front.

I'm running the chevy 63 inch ones with the factory blocks and belltech 6400 shackles and got 6 inches of suspension lift. Personally, i love them. Mine are the 3/4 ton ones, 6 leaf pack with the over load.

This is what I have done already

I got my Dana 30 for a local junkyard, out of a 96 cherokee. I stripped it down and made my own truss to prevent it from bending, as the dana 30 are known for.

The start

Working on the truss

So I added a back and welded it all together. Later I added a top piece and continued down to the end of the tube. I also beefed up the stock dana cover by welding on some 1/8" plate.

All done...yay!

So I finally finished all the plating and beefing up my D30. Truss is done and I also added some "C" gussets to stop the "C's" from stretching, came out good. I also had it all sandblasted by a local guy so the paint would adhere really well.

Thanks for the input!

Thats guys^^ for the input on the swap. I was going to do the chevy spring swap but I decided to save a lil $ and went with the ranger springs. Also I won't have to re-locate any mounts now. I will run it and I don't like how it performs I can just change it later and sell my springs. I know a lot of guys that have ranger and would snatch them right up.:icon_thumby:

My buddy is running explorer springs in his truck, and he loves 'em. He tows a bit with his truck thats why he went with the explorer springs. I have road with him and the woods and they aren't too bad ride wise. Felt like running something different where I am. Most guys here just run drop shackles or explorer springs not actual lift springs, want to see how they do.

I have the Dana 30 up front also! love it so far. but i did go with the 64 chevy springs out back, i had to drill 4 new holes and grind off a few rivets, nbd, and i love mine! i have crazy flex and i did get just over 6” lift with drop shackles and my stock block. it cost me $100 (including the springs, bolts, and new drop shackles) and maybe 3 hours of time with removing the bed to make it easier.

Springs

With the ranger springs; which are a 4" lift pack, and my drop shackle(ditching the block) I should be around 8"s of lift plus I have a 2" body lift. Will be running 35's no problem.

Was originally going to go with the 64" chevy swap, with a 5.5" lift spring from skyjacker but said the hell with it and my life a little bit easier with going with the ranger springs.

What did anyone of you run for a trac-bar? I have heard a stock XJ one works well.?:icon_confused:
