Just saw this on another Ford truck site. Guy was out West and had three pass him. Can't imagine why they would have had Mich manufacturer plates on them unless for testing.
Dave

"Out on the road going to the mountains and guess what kind of convoy I saw today? I saw 3 2013 Ford Rangers!! All plates were Michigan manufacturer and some sort of warning sticker on the side doors. Could this mean they will be releasing the Rangers again in the US? I sure hope so!! I got a video. I was in the passenger seat when this happened. One had the 2.2l I hope that is a diesel. Another one has the 3.2l I am guessing that is a gas engine. The third truck was white and had some different back end. I couldn't get that cause we passed him. The new rangers are quite good looking and rugged.
Some of you may already know this but I didn't so I hope they are bringing it back. My guess is Spring 2014."

They're friggen hideous.

I hope to hell they are simply testing the truck and will have a different body style to it. Because god damn those things are gross.

I like the looks of them. I'd have to drive one though to see how well it drives and how good the visibility is. I can't stand vehicles where it's difficult to see out of, like mid sized SUVs.

In the end, I'd rather gave fuel economy and ruggedness then looks.

Funny they look like the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon, just with Ford emblems. Add to that useless, there's practically no truck bed. They just rebadged a Ford Explorer Sport Trac with Ranger emblems WTF.

THIS^. What's the point? Although, I suppose some of the people here might be able to make some interesting comparisons (and parts swaps).

It would be a great way for me to lose weight.

I would throw up every time I stepped out of the house and saw the thing. :bad:

But for all the "global" crap that Ford thinks we need they likely will not care anyway.

They're to..... Roundish. Like a minivan with a pickup bed.

When I want a truck, I want a truck. Boxy square and tough looking.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I love the older trucks. But there are people out there who want to buy a truck for fuel efficiency, I know, I know, crazy talk right?

I don't mind rounded, I dd a 2002 F-150. It is probably the most bubbly truck Ford has put on this island to date and I love it.

I do have a problem with ugly. Coming and going the gobal Ranger is plastered with it from its google eyed car inspired headlights to its way too deep bed adorned with massive goofy tail lights.

People can get 25mpg with a healthy 5.0 in a third generation Ranger, I don't think they have to get that hidious to get something decent out of a diesel.

I would just as soon keep my old clunker for a truck and get a newer car than drag a global Ranger home if milage became that important to me.

Agreed. I don't mind the 97-03 f150's at all. Hardly my favourite generation, but they still look American. The global ranger is way to.... Foreign looking.

An I honestly don't think it would sell very well at all looking like it does. Some people say who cares what it looks like if it gets good mileage.

Well, it can get good mileage and still look good with a nice body lol. People get 30 mpg out of 4bt swaps all the time. Read an article on a damn Chevy k5 blazer that got 30 mpg highway. So if a rig that square and big can do it, I'm sure a (good looking) light ranger can do the same easily.
