Recently my 98 ranger was totaled, thanks to walmart, so I started looking for another project truck, I found a 2001 loaded out extended cab 2wd xlt for $1200…my plans are to swap in an explorer 5.0 and need to know what headers, besides the tm, that I can run. I have heard of using some shorty's for a foxbody mustang and modifying my steering shaft, I have a set of bbk's that I'm pulling off of my 1990 mustang to go to long tubes, I just need to know what sort of modification I have to do to make them work, any help is appreciated.

I'm questioning how Walmart totaled your truck...

I have saved a couple of examples of different builds with headers. I know the first four are of a later model. He had to raise the motor /trans almost 2" for clearance. He used Kooks type headers. The last just show others using u-joints to clear the steering

Company van ran a red light and I hit them doing 35 after locking my brakes up, but I got $6500 for it so I'm not complaining...

Those are in a ttb truck, I guess I'll be figuring it out when it comes down to pulling the 4.0 out. I might end up just fabbing up my own set.

Nevermind, I just noticed the first pictures. Wouldn't I need a body lift to compensate for the engine being raised though? That's one thing I refuse to do.
