...got the bad news from the machine shop yesterday; the head i picked up for my '90 ranger is cracked.
to avoid spending another half day at the local pick a part to possibly end up with another good looking but bogus cracked head i'm looking into the option of purchasing a rebuilt one that's ready to go.
should i consider getting a 1995 or newer head to up my compression ratio a bit or should i stick to the first generation (89-94) roller head?
besides the different combustion chamber, different valve stems size, different springs and different water outlet bolt size(?) what other variables am i looking to run into with this swap?
will my 1990 intake manifold fit on a 94+ head?
how much of an increase in compression am i actually looking at, something that i could easily gain by shaving a few thousandths off my '90 head?
sorry for the lengthy post and thanks in advance for any replies.
