Well, the truck is in the garage, all fluids bled, and a butt load of connectors, um, disconnected.

Ford 302 no smog, no a/c, and no lack of power, sweet! The tranny is a NWC Borg Warner T-5 from a Mustang GT, fully rebuilt and ready to go.

It's pretty much a copy of the Edelbrock performer intake from a Mustang. Better clearance, more power, and not speed density like the intake from the f-150.

I am in the same boat. The "broke" part that is. All of this was around $5000
so far over a year and a half. The key is knowing the right people:

Engine rebuilt by Ernie Brottem, famous NASCAR motor builder in the 60's-now
Tranny-ebay
intake-ebay
ford 9 inch-guy I work with
95% of the other parts-ebay

If you're broke, ebay is your best friend.:icon_thumby:

typhoon?
did you ever run it on anything before you put it on that motor? i ran the performer on a h/c/i car and loved it, always wondered if that was really just as good for $200 less...

TYPHOON, that's the name! I have not run it in anything yet. Blue Oval Industries told me that it's an almost exact replica of the edelbrock, but it's cast in China. So, some porting had to be done, but it looks legit.

thats cool, i saw one on ebay before i got the performer but i didnt want to take my chances and have it be bum so i had to suck it up and throw the extra green for the edelbrock. i had heard that the same company that makes that intake makes a set of cylinder heads identical to the victor jr's for like $700

Yeah, my brother and I splurged on Edelbrock heads just because thats the one area you don't want to go cheap on. I wanted a good brand name that was reliable. Not saying Blue Oval is bad, but I am not a risk taker.

Well, the motor and tranny are removed, the motor brace cleaned up and ready for some VERY EXPENSIVE POR-15.
PA310321.jpg

I don't know if any of you guys had to do this, but I had to do some custom fab work on my inner support. The bottom front was almost rotted completely out.

Can't even tell, can ya?!:icon_thumby::icon_confused:

A body lift and some 1/8 steel plate for frame-boxing is on the way........

yeah that core support looks awesome. im in the process or replacing mine and it has turned into a big job. not that the core support was hard to get out but once it was i could resist from cleaning up everything and then using por 15 on the inner fenderwell, on the fire wall and then on the insides of the outer fenders. then i sprayed bondo undercoating on everything and then dusted it with high temp black spraypaint to make it a uniform color. that por15 kicks ass i did my whole frame and cab and bed in it. are you using the metal ready to prep with? that stif lays down a nice zinc coating for the por15 to stick to. sweet build!

My bad.:icon_twisted: I got a little carried away with not updating.

Well, I just got the 3" body lift installed, gas tank removed, front end I-beams removed, seats removed, and the old engine wiring harness removed.

ABSOLUTLY NONE OF IT WAS A WALK IN THE PARK!!! Gas tank got hung up on the rear axle and on the filler neck, broken bolts, rust holes on the inside of the cab under the carpet, etc.,etc. But thats OK, I was expecting this.

Now, I am attempting something a little different............ I cleaned up the I-beam suspension arms and am going to paint them the same color red as the truck(or close to it). I think that it will look sweet to see some red arms under the truck.

Pics will be en-route, I just need to take them.:icon_thumby:

P.S. I took off the suspension components so that I can replace ALL the crappy factory rubber bushings for urethane bushings(body mounts, leaf springs, the whole nine yards)
