My uncle has a 1992 Gmc 3/4 ton with a 6.5 turbo diesel. He's replaced the balancer once already and got one from O'reily's and it went out yesterday again. And i did some research and found out that the balancer is the weak point on these engines. So basically i want to know if anyone knows where the best place is to get a balancer from? We priced one from GM for $111 plus shipping. But if GM made them weak from the start we're not sure if Gm is the best place to get one from. and the O'reily one said made in china on it. thanks for any help.

well im pretty sure but not 100% that that truck is a 6.2 if its a 92 (unless the sticker date was 07/92 and up) but if not id lok at this place under the 6.5 section www.dieselplace.com that should get you your answer

thanks, i'll check it out. the hood says 6.5 on it.

Doesn't matter if it's a 6.2 or a 6.5.

Fluidampr makes one for it. It's about $400. The part number is 800191. Try Jegs or Summit. It's a lot of money, but problem solved.

thanks for the info, i checked out summit and that's the wrong balancer, the one that went out is the one with the pulley made on it.

Ha, I didn't realize there was one behind the other. My truck has V-belts and it isn't so obvious as the serpentine types because it's buried in the pulleys. Sorry to get your hopes up.

try ssdiesel supply or heath diesel they are the only 6.5/6.2 specialty shops that i know of
