Damn and he used the Stubby beams. Too bad he could of had a super performing setup with a longer beam. But then his coilovers would have been a limiting factor.

Mjones I've been following that avalanche build on another site and it's BadASS.

The only thing I see in the Avalanch build is they needed to do the cutting and turning between the center section and the pivot points so they would have more clearance for the pumpkin. If you look at the last picture I posted, It looks as if it would smash into the engine cross member on very little up travel.

The last two pictures you posted are of a different build. it's an explorer.

If you look at the second picture you can see the pocket for the diff to fit. The Avi is on coilovers not coils.

I wish I had that guys fabrication skills. Makes me want to cross over to the dark side and get a jeep truggy.

lol, looking at that stuff is pretty addictive huh. :D
I figured it was just a matter of time before someone built a TTB rig for KOH. I mean... It's got pretty much all the same strengths of a solid axle when you build it right, plus the added go-fast ability. Just the perfect recipe if you ask me.
I definitely agree he should've lengthened that driverside beam a good 7-8" (too bad around page 7 or 8 (somewhere in there) he got sucked into the confusion that exists out there about equal length beams). But I think he's still got a damn good chance with it as long as the D50 gears stay together.

I saw that Avy build too, although it's more of a traditional desert-style build. Still some way cool stuff though (I think it says something about TTB when people actually put it where it wasn't originally). :cool:

Thouht I would pop on just to let you guys all know the Avalanche is basically done, obviously there are lots of odds and ends to continue doing as there are always are in any project. Took it out to Ocotillo for its maiden voyage last weekend. I vowed to take it easy to find any weaknesses, that didnt last too long but I didnt get crazy with it either. It handled great, it ate up everything thrown at it and we were hitting speeds of excess of 60 to 70 through the sand washes. The rear could use a little fine tune valving but the great news is nothing broke. John Baker at Baker Motorsports did an excellent job building this vehicle for its second time being built. Any questions feel free to ask.

BTW I noticed the pictures didnt show it but the rear end is four linked and is running a Ford 9" with full spool on 4.56 gears.

very cool, its not often you hear of "TTB swaps" definately got respect for someone doing something new takes alot of balls/brains to do a complete one off setup like that. I second the crack thing, Ill "waste" hours on a good build thread. Ill have to read it another night though too much homework.

IIRC as I read the whole build a while ago, but doesn't he mention the TTB D50 is very close to equal length beams when compared to the D35/44 setups? Either way.....it's a BADASS Juggy....

The D50 (leafspring) TTB beams are of equal length, yes. Problem is, they are quite short, and once you've put your radius arms on it, it changes the entire geometry of the suspension and you will no longer have the same camber curve on each side, the driverside curve becomes sharper than the passengerside. Lengthening of the driverside beam would've helped correct that. Regardless, I think it's still gonna do pretty good once he gets it going.
