By Jim Oaks The old '96 Ranger (TRS-2) has taken a beating and is showing signs of wear and tear since the build up in 2004. Below is a photo of how it looked in the summer of 2008. I have started stripping the truck of its decals so I can start repairing the body damage and getting it ready to re-paint. Below you can see where I've been pulling off the decals. Here's some of the damage that needs repaired. I drug the bedside along a rocky wall climbing a washed out hill a few years ago. The taillight got ripped out along the way and I straightened the corner out enough to get a new one to stay in place. The front fiberglass fender cracked where it bolted up to the front. It will have to be fixed with some more fiberglass. The dent below is courtesy of my wife at Attica. I have no idea what see drove over. We were dropping off a ledge going down a trail and I was in the right seat hanging on. I have to straighten the rocker, the door, and re-align the door. The is a great example of why I need a set of sliders. The decals on the hood have been cracking from sitting out in the weather year round. I wasn't about to re-do all the graphics knowing the whole truck needed painted. In the next issue I'll show you how I made the repairs and got it ready for paint. Stay tuned.
