June
2, 2009:
After
much consideration, I've decided to cancel the 10-Year Anniversary event
due to the current financial hardships of our members.
When I
began planning for the event a year ago, I had no idea that the economy
was going to turn so bad. In April our national unemployment rate was at
8.9% and figures for May will surely have us over 9%.
While
many people stated they were going to attend, only (8) people registered
between the registration period that ran from January 1st to June 1st.
I've seen several who had originally stated they were going to attend,
now state that they would no longer be able to attend because of money
issues.
I had
discussed this with other staff members here at The Ranger Station and
the decision was made to cancel the event if registrations were low.
With the small number of participants (a mix of street & off-road),
there just isn't enough registrations to bring it all together as
planned.
I will
be issuing refunds to those few people who have registered later today,
and appreciate their support.
I
apologize for any inconvenience this may cause those that had registered
and planned to attend. Unfortunately the timing just isn't right for the
majority right now.
