Does anyone have pictures and or location information for any cross members in the ceiling of a Bronco 2 behind the headliner? I'd like to mount my CB radio up there out of the way as I plan on installing a 3 gauge pod on the lower dash down by the shift levers. What exactly is behind that headliner? Anything structural to attach a CB to up there? As far as I know its just cardboard covered with fabric?

There is precious little up there. You might be able to catch something up by the windshield, but you would have to have a small CB. There is a little more right in line with the B-pillar across, but the dome light is there along with your head. Aside from that, there are two tiny ribs that run between the A and B pillars. Since there is no headliner in my choptop I was able to rig something up for awhile, but it was a pain even at that. Once I put the roll cage in, I mounted the CB to that and solved my problems.

I would say to look for somewhere else to put the CB. The headliner itself is too flimsy.

If you look for the overhead maplight/console they have a roughly 18" long structural brace runs fore/aft above the headliner to support it. If you don't have the maplight, you don't have the brace. I don't remember exactlly how it mounts but just screws mount it.

This is the maplight, I didn't know it then (but have nabbed one since) that there is a brace above that on trucks with that option that don't have a steel headliner.

Yeah not much up there at all. Only thing I could think of is pulling the headliner and adding some bracing LOL. Just trying to think of where to put the CB, don't like it sitting on the dash in plain sight, its not a very small CB either. Guess I'll tackle that when I get started on the gauge pod install this spring.

I also plan on installing a Mobile Ham Radio too so possibly need to find a multi-mount solution for 2 radios. Can't do between the seats as I have a console I'd like to keep there.

Easy to do if you look for the factory maplight brace.

And what would that attach to? The pillars I would assume and by screwing it to the pillars?

IDK, I'll change ideas 20 times at least by then HAHA. I'll get it figured out at some point. Really wish they would have built the headliner to be easier to remove, mine isn't sagging so I really don't want to take it out.

Thanks. I guess I should pull the headliner down and see what's up there...Highly doubt those cross bars are there though.

I believe it will block some of your vision if I recall, although I like that setup, but how the heck does that connect if there's nothing up there as it is to fasten stuff to.
