Am I going to get in over my head with this? I have the explorer motor ready to lift out. Just have to disconnect the fuel lines. I will be starting on the ranger tomorrow I’m hoping that will have a little more room being it’s a 3.0. Is there any wiring I have to save off of the engine harness for the 3.0?
Pull the computer and wiring harness off the explorer and set on the top of the engine. I used nothing of my 4.0 on the 5.0. I left everything connected on the 5.0 including the battery harness. All the vacuum lines connect back to the same type of fittings. If you need any help with the routing I will take pictures and post them. The fuel line connect right back to the factory ranger fuel line. As for the little bit of wiring for the a/c and solenoid wire. It is in my write up in the how to tech section or on the first page of this thread. You will not be left hanging. Just ask and we will provide as much advice as possible. By the way the torsion bar rangers have a lot more room between the fender wheels. I installed the exhaust bolts on the passenger side with a ratchet wrench and had tons of room. Headers are going to be pretty easy when I go to install them. The clearance in the wheel wells in the explorer is terrible compared to our 4x4 rangers. Buy the way this is how I pulled the motor and trans out of my donor.
