You're right. I looked that up. The strap under the chin looks major stoopid. I'm glad they didn't catch me either. That would have been embarrassing.Ya, but those goes where the stetson straps under their chin and ties with short sleeves.
The Marine Corps is who you should look up when you want to know how to dress professionally with a military spin. Definitely the Ohio troopers follow that. Penn troopers are all over the place. I looked into it more after you posted. Some don't do the chin-placed strap. Some don't do the short-sleeved tie. Some tuck the tie into their shirt.
I had to wear a tie in long sleeves on embassy duty. But we had to wear a clip-on. I don't think grabbing my tie would have helped anyone trying to assault me back then, or even now, but that was the idea. Grabbing my tie wouldn't be a handle for you to control me with. I would just go from trying to be professional to becoming enraged and kill you. Which was my job before I was accepted to be a Marine Security Guard.
