Just a quick post for entertainment (mostly mine)

Can you guess what truck has what engine?

Here are some hints.

I'll start with saying that one Ranger has an engine that never came in a Ranger from the factory, and one Ranger has boost.

I will also say that these three Rangers all have engines with different displacements.

No snooping through my posts. This is a guess based on what you see here now.

First winner gets.... likely nothing...maybe a prize TBD.

The blue one has a 7.3l powerstroke.
The other blue one has a 24valve Cummins.
The other other blue one has a Detroit 673T

4.0L - Your signature says 1995 Ranger 4.0 4x4

2.9L - I seem to recall you being one of your big proponents of the 2.9L. Could be remembering wrong.

2.3T - It is boosted and was never available from the facrtory in a Ranger.


EDIT: Scratch that, I'm only taking one guess. I'm sure I'm wrong, the 4x4 probably has the V8.

First Gen has a 2.9L

Third Gen has a V8

Late to the game, but I remember the 4x4 having a 4.0 supercharged from the 20th anniversary trail ride in Ohio... from your hint of boost, I figured one of the lowered had a thunderchicken 2.3 turbo, and likely the first Gen as it would have been an easier swap than it would in the third generation. And for the third Gen, I figured 5.0 swap.

ThumderChicken 2.3T is the plan for the first gen, currently just a fresh 2.3 NA engine.
