I’m thinking about adding an external tank to my 1997 ranger for long road trips. 15-20 gallon tank in the bed with a small pump to pump the fuel into the tank at 3-5 psi at about 0.5 gallons per minute via a 5/16” tube welded into the filler neck.
Has anyone here tried something like this...
I bought this one for my 1997 2.3 three years ago and it has worked fine ever since:

I had a somewhat similar problem with my 97 Ranger. I traced it back to a ground issue. Broken ground wire to the dash and corrosion on the battery to ground cable connection. Might be worth a try.
I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/Rostra-250-1223-Universal-Electronic-Control/dp/B007ZCQD9S/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2WN9VKT7C4X61&keywords=rostra+cruise+control+kit&qid=1664101772&sprefix=rostra+%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.08f69ac3-fd3d-4b88-bca2-8997e41410bb

I put a Rostra Cruise kit on my 97 Ranger several years ago. It works great except when my 2.3L manual doesn't have enough power to climb a hill, which makes it kick off. I mounted the servo on the passenger side just in front of the blower motor. I believe this is the same location as the...
I changed mine for the first time at 280k when I changed the timing belt. I wouldn't recommend going that long. The most common water pump failure is a seal failure. You'd see coolant leaking from the weep hole on the pump or notice loss of coolant in the reservoir. In summary, it wouldn't be...
I recently replaced a rotted out tail pipe on my 1997 Ranger 2.3L. After the tail pipe was replaced the engine started running a little rough at full throttle and the CEL came on with code P0171.
I can’t imagine how a tail pipe could cause the engine to run lean but I’m not sure how to resolve...
I believe that’s the vacuum line that comes from the HVAC control in the cab and goes to the heater control valve. The valve is in the heater hoses just below the breather in your photo.
I struggled with a similar issue on my 1997 Ranger 2.3L for over a year. Replaced many parts similar to you. It finally went away when I did two things (not sure which one fixed it). 1) Replaced MAF sensor (my old one looked good too), and 2) cleaned and torqued battery post to cable...
