I disconnected the battery but it did not seem to do anything different. What i did do though is clean off the battery and battery tray of acid that had leaked out over time. Its been shifting great for 4 days now so it’s possible that was the issue.
I have a 1998 3.0 xlt 4x4. Its has the 4r44e. Have had it since new. Currently it has 230k miles. Transmission has always been serviced and the separator plate gaskets were replaced within the last five years. Transmission fluid looks and smells great. Recently the truck would intermittently...
1998 ranger. I had the square trailer wiring plug that comes out of the harness in the back of the truck right behind the bumper. I want to buy some trailer wiring that plugs into that square plug but the square connector is broken off. Where can i but a new pigtail to put back on my factory...
Lets say the shift motor is bad even though its brand new. When I push the 4x4 switch shouldn't I still hear the relay click in the 4x4 computer as its trying to power the shift motor?
ok. I did test the bulbs by grounding them at the controller and both high and low lights came on along with the 4x4 indicator on the cluster so i know the bulbs are good.
Is the 4x4 switch in the dash a momentary switch or is it supposed to click? My dash switch only provides the 5v back to the shift computer while the switch is being held down. Also the 4x4 light doesn’t illuminate on the switch when the switch is getting pressed but maybe it won’t illuminate...
If the switch is supplying the proper 5v signal back to the 4x4 computer why wouldn't the relays click. The computer light blinks when the test switch is activated and you can hear the relays click.
yeah that was my concern whether the power from the controller going to the 4x4 switch was supposed to be 12v or 5v but now You verified its supposed to be the 5v I am getting.
Yes I pulled the fuses out to verify them and the contacts were good. What about the 4x4 control switch feed. Should that be 12v or 5v. Mine only has 5v on it.
I am working on a 1993 xlt. The symptoms are the 4x4 does nothing when the buttons are pressed. I'm not sure if the button 4x4 indicator light is supposed to turn on when the ignition is turned on but they do not. The shift motor is brand new. I followed every step in the...
