Were dual fuel tanks an option for the 93 supercab? I'm thinking about putting it in mine, but it would be nice if it were an option, so I could pull the system at a junk yard. Thanks!

Not sure about 1993.

RonD or AllanD had a good write up on this a little while back. The valve that allows you to switch between the two seems to be the difficult part to find.

Could just poor boy it with a bed mount fuel cell and a slobber line running into your tank. There's a few other aftermarket valves out there as well that allow switching.

The valve is available aftermarket, not necessarily marketed directly to the ranger.
I've salvaged some from the same era f150's.
I believe gm had a similar valve.
There are manual valves that can be installed. You have to cut a hole in the floorboard beside the seat to allow switching from in cab.

The valve is no problem. I'm mostly wondering about the tank, sending unit and filler tube. I'd prefer to keep it out of the bed of the truck, it's small enough as is... I think I remember working on a 1st generation 2wd, that had 2 tanks from the factory, but I've learned not to trust my memory.

Do you have 2 fill spots on your bed? If not then try to find a good bed and swap that with yours, and grab all the related fuel system at the same time. Other wise I think your bed still has the bump out for the fuel line and you will just have to weld in a fill door.
You should check the rear signal light cluster to make sure they are the same connectors if you swap beds.

So it IS a factory option? I would just fab in another fuel filler door on the existing bed, in the factory location. I was just hoping I could find it all as a factory system, rather than have to experiment to find the right tank etc.. Do these Rangers have in-tank pumps as well?

The ones I'm familiar with have a low pressure pump in tank feeding the tank selector valve down at the frame rail. Fuel is then routed thru a filter then a high pressure frame rail pump and up to the engine. 86 to late 80's? Not sure if it was available in the 90's.

Dual tanks on rangers went extinct after 88.

The F series kept them thru 96 (97 F250HD, 350)

Ive thought about cutting out the fuel door on my ranger trailer and welding it in on my truck, just to give the appearance of dual tanks, then again for years I wanted to cut/splice frames and build my own supercab longbed ranger. decided it was a lot of work for not much gain other than appearance.

Another place to source used valves would be dual tank RV's. I know my 91 ford class c has one.

Seems I've been answering a question that wasn't asked in the original post. Oops.

From what I remember, the optional second tank was not that big and was only offered for a very limited time. I know there was a write up about installing a BII tank that was bigger and is kinda exposed.

Whatever direction you go, there is going to be quite a big of custom fabrication work. Removing the spare tire mount and fabricating a frame work for the tank. Making a filler door. So forth and so on. You’ll really have to want it to make it happen.
