I’ve never had one that new, but have always wanted to add a 93-up 4x4 Super Cab to my fleet. Sounds like he done well.

Any maintenance records with it? If not, I would recommend treating everything like it was neglected and go over it with a fine toothed comb. Great find and buy though. With that low of a mileage, the overall shape of the truck should be pretty darn good.

Very nice find. As posted, change the fluids and double check hoses for any deterioration from age. Drive belt also from it just sitting,
Would definitely change out brake fluid and total coolant flush as any debris will have settled in rad and heater .
I found/bought a 2009 in similar condition, 23,000 miles. Still had all the original fluids xcept for oil/filter.
Changed everything out in first week I had it, and no problems.
Re read and saw it was your friend and not you....
Lucky cuss indeed!!!

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
So you can’t park there, but you can pile all that junk up?!

16 year old truck with 12,000 miles? Amazing. I'd change all fluids and hoses. Complete tune up. Then let 'er rip.
Sittin' around here that long, the rats would have eaten up the wiring harness.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
When you're changing hoses don't forget the brake hoses, regardless what they look like 16 years is too old to trust.

Any maintenance records with it? ....
It actually belonged to one of his neighbors who passed away recently, he said the guy always kept it running just hardly ever drove it.
You're not suppose to park there...
Funny you should mention that.... About 8 years ago a runaway (drifting) 44 ton diesel locomotive came thru that door and totaled a 1/2 ton Chevy.. Some people like to live dangerously I guess...

I would think it more depended Where it sat those 16 years.
I replaced the front brake lines(only the rubber one going to the calipers) after 26 years on the road, in sun and rain and cold and snow, and that only due to the fact I was replacing the front rotors, calipers, and bearings(simply decided to go ahead and replace the hoses while I was in there).
His may well have been kept in an air conditioned garage.
At any rate, I wouldn't go looking for plastic and rubber to replace simply due to a date
