2000 Ford Ranger 18" questions

I was looking at the Anovia Elder in an 18x8.5 35mm front and a 18x10.5 22mm rear. I would like to run some 255/40/18 and 295/35/18 on it with an Explorer 8.8. DJM UCA and LCA with lowering springs and a flip kit hopefully for a total of 5"-5" drop front and rear. I called them yesterday and the guy didn't seem too informed and just said I would need spacers but couldn't say how much. My daily is a 5"-6" lowered GMC Yukon with some declad 20" GMC 6 spoke wheels with a 1" spacer on front to clear the Brembo BBK and a 2" spacer on the back because the rear wheels have been cut and widened 2". I run 275/55/20 and 325/50/20 Nittos. I will end up getting some BC Forged wheels when I am closer to being done but I don't mine running spacers to get the fitment exactly.

Spacers on the front are typically used when the centerbore of the wheel is too small for the hub to penetrate. They also make it more likely to clear the dustcap on the hub and use a centercap on the wheel. It just depends on the wheel.
I'd hold off on spacers of any kind until you can test fit your wheels and see what issues you might run into.

Would the 18x8.5 35mm and 18x10.5 22mm spec sound like it would work? I am planning on putting an 8.8 under the back end so narrowing the housing wouldn't be an issue.

With the Explorer 8.8 you won't need a flip kit, those are already "flipped" from the factory.

I'd hold off on spacers for the rear too. That sounds pretty close to a mustang 18x10.5 wheel spec. IIRC those fit pretty well on a Ranger with an Explorer width axle. I definitely would be in a hurry to narrow the axle, of got for a different offset or pull the bedsides first.

I meant making the axleshafts equal and centered. I realize the Explorer comes flipped and will lower it more than 5" since it's bigger than a 7.5.

I was referring to this. A flip kit isn't needed with the Explorer axle. You'll get closer to 5.5 or 6 inches with that axle. Use lift shackles to pick it back up some if desired.

Stmitch and I both commented on the narrowing in your other thread. I think we were off similar mind the, and no point in rehashing it here. These wheel specs haven't changed my thoughts on that any. I highly suggest trying the wheels before you commit to cutting the axle.

The wheel/tire specs and drop should end up pretty close to mine. This is the DJM 4/5 kit with stock Ranger rear axle. I'm running 245/35/18s in front and 295/35/18s in the rear. I'll need new tires soon, and will probably try something with a bit more sidewall in front like you're planning.

I really think a 255/40/18 and 295/35/18 on 8.5 and 10.5 wheels will give me an little over am inch wider than the wheels and ample sidewall with a 5" drop all around. What are your wheels specs and are you running spacers or adapters?

18X9 front and 18X10 rear. I don't remember wheel offsets since it's been well over a decade. They're just aftermarket SN95/New Edge Mustang wheels.

I don't have any spacers, but I have a bit of a unique setup in front with the Cobra brakes. They use a turned down version of the stock Ranger hub to fit the Cobra rotors. Since I had them out already, I just turned down the outside diameter of the hub that penetrates through the centerbore of the wheels. And I don't run any center cap on the front (just a painted factory dust cap).
The only reason to use spacers on the rear would be for fitment/aesthetics, and the New Edge Mustang offsets put the wheels in the right spot in my opinion. It's not low enough for rubbing to be a concern, so no spacers in the rear on mine.

I was looking yesterday and I think I have decided on the Elder 18x8.5 35mm and 18x10.5 22mm with 255/45 and 295/40 with DJM UCA and LCA with 3" drop coils or the QA1 adjustable coilovers with an 8.8 flipped.
