  1. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

Two quick questions... Just to understand this whole wheel sizing thing if I were to use the 09 Explorer wheels 235/65/18 (x7.5 width, 44offset) and use a 1 inch spacer 25.4mm, my new offset of 44-25.4=18.6 compared to 12mm stock ranger. Is 6.6mm difference a big deal to hinder this wheel from...
  2. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

Yes. I have 3 wheel sets-the wheels that came with this truck but tires are bald-245/70/16, a set of 235/65/18 chromes and the smallish set in pic above - 235/70/16. It's the first set that I will buy 285/75/16 for. Thanx!
  3. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

While on the subject of wheels seems bushings are missing off of these rods, yes? What are they called or part nos please?
  4. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

I re-read the FAQ sticky above and combining your advice above about rubbing, with ... "On '98-'10 4wd Rangers a 32" or narrow 33" can be fit with a 1.5" torsion bar twist. 33x10.50-15 BFG or 285/75-16 will fit on the stock rims with slight rubbing on the inside." To completely mitigate this...
  5. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

I am weighing getting bigger tires onto the OEM 16" rims [245/70/16] vs the '06/07 Explorer 18" wheels [235/65/18] that will require spacers to make them fit in front (they fit ok in rear.) I am not sure if 285/75/16 can fit ok in this truck '99 4x4 super cab? If those are way too big what...
  6. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

Great info Thanx. After reading up on spacers I was so focused on hub centric types that I always over looked these ones. But that's a great deal. Just to clarify - even though this Ranger has a hub lip the wheels really are lug centric types not necessarily hub centric, correct? Both front...
  7. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

Well I got a different set from an 02ish Explorer. They fit over the hub but the only issue is they appear smaller in there. They are 235x70R16, pic 1 below. The previous were 245x70R16. Do these rims also have a deeper backspacing (positive offset)? I also tried 18's (from 2010ish Explorer)...
  8. Will 2002 Explorer Wheels Fit 1999 Ranger 4x4?

Will wheels from a 2002 Ford explorer fit through the wheel hubs of a 1999 Ranger 4x4? Tires exact sizes are being sent later in the morning. I spotted a great deal on CL but they are a bit of a distance. If anyone knows this info. they will really help me decide. I tried the chrome rims from a...
  9. Restore Nerf Bars' Glory

Did the rustoleum bed-liner stick on to the plastic part? "Rain-sticks...." I know what you mean. I shook'em, looked them inside, they are solid. Thanx for the tips.
  10. 1986 ford ranger 2.9 won’t rev past 3k

Say what? Is a 4.0 4x4 such a crap pile?
  11. Restore Nerf Bars' Glory

Before installing these bars on new to me 99 4x4 I would like to restore them to some of their erstwhile glory in the same black. Has anyone done this? How and what products did you use, how are the results holding?
  12. 1986 ford ranger 2.9 won’t rev past 3k

Thank you for this information. I just got a 4.0 and this will be handy.
  13. BUY ADVICE 1999 XLT 4x4

Thanx. much appreciate the insights. What's your take on the oil wetness under the tranny case? It's a 4.0 motor.
  14. BUY ADVICE 1999 XLT 4x4

But if the truck is being driven that is not something to worry about, correct? Or are you talking about engaging the 4x4 once a month or so? Any quick links you can share on folks working on the 4x4 system issues and the PVH hubs? Sorry am going to see this guy sometime tomorrow. I tried...
  15. BUY ADVICE 1999 XLT 4x4

1999 XLT 4x4 off road 83k miles 4.0 supercab. Truck has been sitting under a tree since 2015 but cranked right up with a new battery. Just checked out this truck, it drives/feels ok. Transmission is smooth while driving but the only thing I noticed was when I change from D into R it makes a...
  16. Junk Yard Hunt For 16's or 15's

Thanx! Right now I'm settled with just the 5mm ring spacers. At lock there's a slight rub I can live with for now. Later I plan to get 1.5" spacers for the fronts. Those will completely eliminate rubbing the suspension system and remove the need for the 5mm rings.
  17. Junk Yard Hunt For 16's or 15's

I cleaned up the chromes and painted the shoes with Cover All (have heard impressive things about this product. I am very curious to see how long the shine lasts.) Even though my first preference was aluminums I have decided to grow into the chrome wheels look. Might as well seeing the 18"...
  18. Junk Yard Hunt For 16's or 15's

Please. That will be great thank you
  19. Junk Yard Hunt For 16's or 15's

Only the small spacers appear to have the correct bevel edge, the big ones are hitting that break register edge. I don't want to stack them, am skipping the big ones, this way I will keep my spacers situation to a minimum. The thin ones sit flush and they tested ok. The truck handled normally...
  20. Junk Yard Hunt For 16's or 15's

Definitely don't want studs breaking in motion especially. However, I broke 2 while removing passenger wheel, luckily opposite ones. So I did not want to take a test drive in this situation. I will pick up longer steel studs from AZ tomorrow and give this better time than I had today. For...
