I've got a rod knock right now so I'm deciding to park it. Never had any machine work done on an engine in NC so plenty of reputable shops around. Question is if I pull the short block will a full rebuild be cheaper than a 1800 remanufactured?

Is it safe to adjust my valves while the 2.9l is idling? I put new heads and all new rocker assembly on my 2.9l and the tick is killing me slowly. I cant stand my little buddy ticking its heart out like he needs help.
