Have you been here for 15 or 20 years or more?

    Dang bud, been a bit!

    What did YOU do today?

Spent the week on the lake camping, the boat ran great although a bit rich but didn't want to try to adjust the carb on vacation... could have leaned the idle out some but whatever... About 2 days in the boat ladder went for a swim while we were parked together, apparently the 2x4 wasn't enough...

    What did YOU do today?

On my riding mower I have the same issue and still haven't gotten a replacement (it's like $40), I've just hammered the end over more and taken a center punch and closed over the hole more... Yesterday I used my finish mower on the tractor, it's nice but they're dumb expensive and touchy, I of...

    What did YOU do today?

Friday I got the camper on the truck and in the driveway so the wife could get things situated. Yesterday I got the boat in the shop driveway so I could do some final things to it before the trip, we also went to town to get a new mattress for the camper, old one was worn out. Then I did some...

Ranger alternator bracket on 87 turbo coupe block

Just realized you're having issues with the bracket mounted to the head for the alternator... I think I'm using the turbo engine bracket for that, didn't realize/remember there was a difference, I did the initial swap in '09 so it's been too long ago... If you need an older style bracket I...

    Running DIS with LA3 - 1990 2.3 5 speed ranger

The problem with any other application is the goofy two vane hall effect crank sensor... I haven't even tried to figure out how that works, haven't had a reason to... This system is more reliable than TFI but it's basically the same thing, just the module is more reliable...

    1987 Ranger Project

It varies DRASTICALLY by state. No thanks to the government in Oregon we still have some rights, they're trying to make it one of the most strict in the country (got passed by voters because of the verbiage on the ballot, no one read the bill). I have a card that says I don't have to do some of...

    Running DIS with LA3 - 1990 2.3 5 speed ranger

I'm assuming you are using your stock Ranger harness and repinning it for the LA3 ECM (like 10 wires need to move)? If so then yes it just works... The DIS system has the crank sensor going to the DIS module which then sends a signal back to the ECM like the TFI distributor would do so it can...

2.0L ('83-'88) Alternator Wiring (Not Charging)

Sometimes the alternator case isn't enough of a ground for the alternator to ground, adding a ground to the ground post on the alternator isn't a horrible idea... Some alternators just have a charge wire, others have an ignition wire, others have a sense wire, some are expecting a charge light...

2.3L ('83-'97) '97 crank, no start, has fuel, but no spark

Battery light stays on until the engine is running and puts power to the ground wire for the bulb (might have it backwards but whatever, it's on until running either way). That sounds like the normal slew of junk notification, after my rear ending fiasco a couple years ago where my inertia...

It sounds like the transmission is toast

    1989 ranger

That's my favorite body style... I'm with the others, basic stuff but I don't get too serious about fixing stuff until the price is solidified and my preference is not in front of who I buy it from... I have a trailer so I'll just tow something if it's in question... Fluids, starting fluid and...

Ranger alternator bracket on 87 turbo coupe block

My setup is from a '86 of unknown origin so it isn't factory intercooled, don't think the intake is different but not sure... I'll see if I can get a pic tomorrow but my engine is installed and the alternator is likely in the way... I didn't take many pictures when I put the engine in 10 years ago.

2.3L ('83-'97) '93 XL vs. '97 XLT fuel tank swap?

They changed most things going forward to at least the fuel filter so you could just go to the fuel filter, might have to take the whole return line too...

    2.0L ('83-'88) Distributor help!

I'd help but I've never ran a Lima with a distributor let alone a vacuum advance unit, there's a reason I went with DIS on my 2.3L but that was to avoid TFI issues...

Ranger alternator bracket on 87 turbo coupe block

I'm using my Ranger alternator and power steering bracket on a '86 turbo block, if I remember right I had to drill/tap that rear lower bolt (10mm coarse threads) but the front two mounted up fine, I didn't have any issues with it hitting anything.

2.3L ('83-'97) '97 crank, no start, has fuel, but no spark

That pretty much points to main power, key power or grounds going to the ECM, I don't have a pinout or I'd post it up.

    What did YOU do today?

Got off a bit early today and since the boat runs I could relax a bit... jumped on the mower and mowed the back yard then jumped on the tractor and mowed the berm on the pond and a bit of the tall reed canary grass... I'd do more with the tractor but I'm low on diesel... Now I pulled the F350 to...

What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

That is completely valid but in this case it's likely just janky wiring... When I bought the boat the guy thought it had a 350, turns out it was a 351... not that I cared but that says something... when I test drove it before I bought it the guy didn't know about accelerator pumps on carburetors...

    New tools you've bought recently?

I've had Bauer stuff for a number of years back when they were first starting with the two brands at HFT, pretty much a toss up but for what I've gotten into I have no regrets on the Bauer, some of the tools that are just on Hercules would be nice but not enough to get a different battery...
