  1. 96 shock issues

my 96 4x4 SXT eats shocks and abuses my body. The shocks are done in a matter o months and I only do pavement. The rebound goes first. My SXT has very stiff springs and I KNOW it takes a special shock to capture that spring and tame the rebound. I used to run KONI on all my sports cars...
  2. OHV performance?

the cars are still there. The options are still there. Benefits are still valid.
  3. MAF for 4.0

Is there a MAF that replaces my stock 96 4.0 that would be less restrictive?
  4. Intake air flow problem?

Located right after the MAF. I think it is very sensitive but only as much as needed to generate the info it does. My delima is would there be a "fix" that is cost effective and justified. The MAF restriction bothers me.
  5. Intake air flow problem?

Great post. I will look for that plumbing and make any corrections I can. I will delete the paper filter ause I can measure the flow through the paper and it is very restrictive. I wish there is an alternative to the K&N as that filter actually has small holes in the fabric that can pass dust...
  6. Intake air flow problem?

  7. Intake air flow problem?

Yes it does. The vac does go down and the flow is better. My thinking was that te MAF should be very free flowing but that may be "my wish". It takes all of these restrictions to create the "change Filter" alert. If the filter is removed that reading goes down. I can also detect that the...
  8. Intake air flow problem?

I thought I posted the link to filter minder. I'll take care of that when I get back to my computer late tomorrow. The filter minder is a valuable tool for anyone on any engine. It is a cheap little vacuum gauge was a memory. If it sees vacuum after the filter and the vacuum is enough to meet...
  9. REPLACEMENT FOR 4.0 OHV 1995

ADSM, I think you have answered my question sucintly. I am too old for that. I guess a "plug and play" was too good to be true. Plan B is to rebuild the 4.0 OHV stocker and unless someone contradicts you out of hand I will follow your advice. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. Could you...
  10. Intake air flow problem?

I most certainly agree with you both. My experience has been the same as yours in that you perceive NO PROBLEM with a filter that just gets smacked to loosen the dust or blown out with a air nozle. Then I got into dirt bikes and single cylinder dirt bikes. They are sensitive in the extreme to...
  11. Intake air flow problem?

I am pretty big on changing my air filter when it needs to be changed and not a moment before. I install one of those little air flow "Filter Minder" gauges to assist me and augment my psychic powers. All has gone well in all these m any years until the Ranger. My Ranger "system" tells me to...
  12. REPLACENENT for a 4.0.....

I missposted this thread in the 3.8.....forum. Please look for it there as I am stupid and can't figure out how to move the thread....if that is even possible.
  13. REPLACEMENT FOR 4.0 OHV 1995

I am passing the 200000M mark. Got a lifter that clatters and some marvels and seafoam just barely quiet. I can tollerate the ticking by turning down my hearing aids. Those came with my 77th birthday. Solution time approaching. I am 77 and not as agile as I used to be and on a disability...
