I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I have a 2000 Ranger XLT (regular cab) and bought ‘02 Explorer seats (4 door) to go in it. They were in the best condition of any seat there at the JY. Most didn’t even have seats. I started cutting the brackets off of the donor seats and I was going to somehow swap the sliders. Am I barking up the wrong tree? I can’t weld, so...

I knew about the 10mm bolts on the ranger seat bottom. Everything is different on the ‘02 Explorer seats.

The cutting was on the ‘02 Explorer seats. Thankfully I didn’t do anything to my Ranger seat.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Unless something changed in ‘02, it should still be the 4 bolts. Those ‘01 seats I got from you worked great and were an easy swap. I would be willing to look at it for a few minutes with you maybe after work some night. I’m working about every day for the next week and a half. But will probably do some short 8 hour days.

Gotta return the seats...the whole assembly is different. Round 2 in swapping seats ends. I’m 0-2 for now. ?‍♂

I think the 02+ seats are significantly wider?

Wouldn't you just bolt the seats to the ranger brackets??

I have a really nice set of leather from a 2000 Eddie Bauerand I haven't done any real measurements yet but just looking at the brackets they look identical, but the seats in my truck may have came from an Explorer I really don't

See...that’s what I thought too. Even read where someone was able to make ‘02 seats work. The problem comes in with the four 10mm bolts. There are no holes for them to go in the ‘02 power seats (I was wanting to upgrade). 2000 Eddie Bauer seats would work (I think) as long as they had the same 10mm bolt holes.

For the 2000 seats, just use the complete explorer setup including tracks.

Does that apply to power seats, or just manual? The seat back supports broke on my Ranger driver seat back and the lack of support is killing my back.

Actually - I missed that you had a regular cab. That may change everything. On an extended cab you can use the Explorer tracks.

You can have my old seats if you want. There is a tear on the bottom of the driver seat that was repaired and is pulling apart again. But at least it's not broken. Would get you by until you find some good seats.

Thanks for the offer. I’m bound and determined to get this right. Going back to the JY to return what I can tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be able to find something that’ll work. For something that is supposed to be so easy, I’m just not getting it. :dntknw:
