OK, so we bought this bronco 2 for $300 bucks without a tranny as a project. we've rebuilt the engine and found a junk yard M5OD to put in it but we still have the original clutch and flywheel (which are basically brand new). Will this clutch and flywheel work with the new tranny (we got the slave cylinder with the tranny and we are going to get the a new clutch master cylinder/hose setup) This is a 1984 b2 with the 2.8l

I believe everything you've got will work. You're correct about the hose although I think you can reuse your master cylinder - but maybe shouldn't, they're cheap.

I think you also need the correct block plate/spacer plate between the engine and trans. Probably will need the M5OD one. I think you can use the 2.8 starter but verify that it fits and lines up with the block plate first. I've had certain ones that didn't fit correctly after an engine or trans swap.

The block plate needs to match two things, the bell bolt pattern, and the starter size/location.

Use the 2.8's block plate if you use the 2.8's flywheel and clutch.

Does anyone know where to buy a 4.0 block plate? I’m surprised that they are hard to find!
