HI I recently bought a 1985 Ford Ranger in great condition (pictured below) It doesn't run very well in the cold though and it has been suggested to me it will run better with a carburetor that has no electric parts (the issue is not the choke). Does anyone have any suggestions about where to look for these parts:

1984 or earlier Ford Ranger truck or Bronco with a 2.8 motor: carburetor, and ignition distributor, duraspark box and the connector between the distributor and the box (good used condition)

Im also looking for an accelerator cable for this vehicle

Cheers,

Savannah

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I don't remember eve seeing a 2.8 without a feedback carb( I worked at a dealer from 75-17) but if you get the parts from a 2.8 Mustang II or 79 Mustang you should be able to graft them on. I have a 78 Mustang 2.8 carb that I built and never used because I found a 4 barrel manifold for the project. You could try Gary Baum at Second Generation Mustang in Pa. ,Phil Schmitt at Mustang II Specialty Shop in Alabama, or Connecticut Mustang.

You can use a carb and points distributor from a 1974 Pinto. I got mine running on that and then swapped it to a 1978/79? duraspark system. The swap info is in the tech section ...

You can get all the connectors for less then $20 here
