1987 2.9l 4x4 (Against the Grain) build.

1987 single cab regular bed 2.9l 4x4. The goal-- 2.9l rear mount turbo 4x4 trophy truck.

The reality. Stock 2.9l with blown head gasket and warped head. Minor rust along top rear fender opening, hole in cab floor seat mount location and holes in floor pan. Door panels busted. Trans shifter shot (fm145). Clutch slips, brake booster shot, fuel leak ( suspect tank), no carpet, dash cracked, gauge cluster rebuild needed.

In the works, heavy duty heads, studs, and gasket, m50d-r1/r1hd, bw1345, Toyota tundra 10.5 rear, 44ttb front.

Head options:
Find world products heads on ebay?
Tom morana heavy duty heads-- $880 without port and polish bolt on ready
Remanufactured heads--$500


Tom's probably best option for boost. Still on the fence about remans, likelyhood of me finding something worlds slim. If I'm missing any options let me know.

Found fuel leak will need a new tank, holes along seam going to try and find plastic tank replacement. Back flushed fuel lines dropping tank tomorrow will take pics.

Got a full 44ttb front end from a friend doing a SAS plan to pic it up in a few weeks. It's in great shape plan on taking coils, buckets, drop brackets, steering, pretty much all but the frame lol.

If anyone needs a 1990 351w block for free let me know. Picking that up as well.
