Hi I have a 1987 Ranger with the naturally aspirated Mazda 2.2 liter motor in it. I just bought the truck and I am looking to install a tachometer. Does anyone have any experience doing so? I found a bunch of tachometer gauge install instructions for the gas trucks in which they all run off the timing and ignition components of the motor.....the diesel on the other hand does not to my knowledge have ignition components. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Diesels in general do not have ignition components.

I have never found the wiring page that shows how it would hook up in a diesel. I do remember telling one guy that he shouldn't hook it to the alternator, and then laughing at him when he did that anyway and it didn't work.
