I own a 1987 Ranger 2.3 turbo diesel with a 4d55t. Im experiencing a constant clicking of the glow plug relay while cranking the engine and no power to the relay with the key in the on position. Anything helps.

and for those interested there is one currently on sale in Temple, Ga on marketplace

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Sounds like battery voltage may be low or a loose/dirty connection in the glow plug relay circuit. Or maybe the time for the relay is going bad. I don't have the wiring diagrams to look at, though.

My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
Do those have a controller like the 6.9L F series?

Im not up on diesels but i recall something similar that would go on with the mid 80's 6.9L's in the F250/350's.

Might be worth a check

From what I can tell it uses a purple wire with a white tracer that acts as a trigger wire for the whole system. With key on I should get twelve volts to the trigger wire but I am getting nothing.

On a side note the glow plugs are a smaller problem compared to the the trucks no start issue. Around December the pump started leaking so I removed it and resealed it. I also installed a new timing belt and meticulously ensured that the motor was in time.Upon reinstallation and confirming that I was getting fuel to the injectors after bleeding, I found that the truck would fire at times but not crank up. Curious as if this was a fueling issue or timing issue I managed to get the truck to fire right up with ether. One concern of mine is that the static injection timing could be too far off but I’m not sure if this could prevent the truck from cranking up all together or just be for finer injection timing adjustements. Nevertheless my experience with this engine is limited and I’d like some help understanding what my problem could be.
