Hello Gents,
Pleasure being here so far and look forward to lots of good discussion and help from what seems to be a good group of knowledge.
I have a 2000 Ranger that’s currently 2.4L 2wd that’s getting a LS heart transplant.

Should be a good swap

You have a 2.5l SOHC in a 2000 Ranger, just FYI, doesn't really matter, lol.

What transmission are you going to use?
And manual or auto?

Yep tracking, it’s 2.5l ...typo.
I’m going with a 4L60e automatic trans. It’s had upgrades done to it to make it a lil more bullet proof.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
This should be good.

Yes, have to admit GM did good with the LS series, there were a few issues, not being a FORD is of course the biggest one :)

Yea the options are endless with the LS and it can make loads of power for nothing. The fab work has been minimal so far.
Right now I’m actually trying to see if my ranger was a returnless system or not so I know how to plumb the new fuel lines.

1998 to 2011 Rangers all used Returnless system, a single fuel line to engine bay, BUT....................

They did have a Return loop on the fuel filter connected to a Fuel Pressure Regulator(FPR) inside the gas tank
FPR is set for 55psi pressure

So fuel filter has 3 connections
IN from pump
OUT to engine bay
Return to gas tank

Thanks a lot , that helps. Saves me from getting under the truck in the rain to trace lines. Now I just gotta pop the tank and throw in a walhboro pump to feed the monster.

From what I have read the LS engines, without Return line, used 58psi, so LS computer should be fine with existing setup.

Good to hear. Yea I’m trying to do as much research on it while I’m waiting for parts to come in to put Humpty Dumpty back together again

Stock 5.3 may be ok....I can see volume issues with a cam and headwork/injectors.
