Im looking to buy a 2007 Ranger with a 3.0l that is blown.
I own 2 XR4Ti's with good engines.
By now, you should see where Im going...

Im interested in buying the truck and 'dropping in' a 2.3l turbo but I cant seem to find confirmation if the stock manual transmission will bolt up to the 2.3l turbo block.

Some other details Im chasing are;
1) Do the engine mounts line up? Or can I maybe find mounts from a 2.3l NA as I know the blocks are the same.
2) Are there any fitment issues with the turbo? Ive heard rumors you have to flip the manifold to make it fit but Im unsure. I will remove the stock AC if I have to.
3) This site mentions fitting the 2.3l turbo with the stock 3.0l rad for extra cooling. Is this required or just advised?
4) If I did go with a T9(for now) or T5, do hou have to modify the driveshaft? Length? Splines? (I am aware of the crossmemeber mods)

Are there any other issues Im going to run into as far as fitment is concerned?

Extra important info:
-Im using the merkur ECU/wiring harness
-I have a T5 with a hydraulic clutch bellhousing
-I would like to limit the amount of fabrication required if possible, however;
-I have access to fabrication stuff (welders etc.) and Im a machinst by trade (mill/lathe available)

Thanks everybody! I look forward to becoming part of the Ranger community!:yahoo:

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
3.0 trans wont work...a 4 cyl lima will, but you would want the m5od.

your t5 will work. may have some driveshaft adjustment and trans mount movement. nothing drastic since you already have the hydro setup.

you will need 4 cyl lima mounts.

there are several manifolds on the ebay ect for this. oryou canrework what you have.

with the whole donor car this is a titties and beer swap. nice.

What are your plans for an ECM? The 07 gauge cluster / body electronics aren't going to get along with the early merkur eec-iv system. Conversely, the '07 3.0 harness and computer aren't exactly going to be easy to physically hook up to and tune for a Lima 4 banger.

If you had a choice, a truck that came stock with a 2.3/2.5 Lima would be a lot less fooling around.
