]I've spent some time thinking about it and although the TDI in the ranger is awesome you end up with a Frankensteined sort of result. If my truck breaks down out in the boonies I'd like to be able to pull into a Ford dealer and get it fixed. The TDI swap is just too unique for my purposes. I once built an awesome computer that was perfect for my needs. The only problem was that every time it needed something I was the only one that knew how to fix it. I got tired of that quickly. The TDI swap reminded me of that.

Anyhow, I've started trying to learn about the 2.3 L ecoboost. Does that engine have just one turbocharger? I'll have to check out that Ford performance place you mentioned since I drive by there every day on my 40 mile commute. I need to learn about what tranny might pair well with the 2.3 ecoboost. The original ranger tranny probably cant take the torque. Its probably cheaper to buy something from a wreck that will work than trying to modify the old tranny.

What year did they start using the 2.3L ecoboost in the mustang?
2015 is when the rwd 2.3 come online, seen quite a few deals for liftouts with less then 10 k miles for 3300-4000 dollars.

the 2..3 from a stang would be a cake swap and fairly cheap depending on what you were willing to live with for steering..

but...with your statement of concern...it don't matter wtf you swap....your not taking it to a ford dealer to get fixed.

you supercharge and tune the 3.0, or buy a duratech truck and turbo that on your own....wont matter... unless that dealer has a tuner dept ($$$$$$$$$hourly$$$$$$$$$) you are fukked.

your living with 2wd...so maybe sell your truck and find a nice 4 cyl and turbo one of those. you could diy turbo and tune one and do pretty good.

I like the ecoboost, but it is not a swap for someone that don't do swaps yet.

but I have a feeling it will be. and very soon at that.

the transit van powertrains are getting pretty good in price these days as well....low mile diesel lift outs are about 5 k....

there are more options then ever.

then there is the 3.7. that is the best deal going...likely with smart shopping put one of those in there under 4 g all in.

150, transit, mustang
