As I'm gradually getting rid of the parts from my disassembled 4L OHV engine I come up with various (crazy) ideas. Yesterday I was noticing how much nicer the 4L fuel rail is vs. 2.9. I've had a couple times where the 2.9 rail didn't seat quite right and leaked, so it's a valid concern to look for a better solution. I must confess I haven't really studied this idea much - just throwing the idea out there in case someone else has already explored the concept.

I figure it would require either custom machining to the 2.9 intake and/or adapting the 4L intake to the 2.9.

Discuss....

I've never had an issue getting mine to seal. Never really needed extra flow either. Even with the ignorant levels of boost I feed it.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
Easier to make custom rails

The reason it sux to nipple up the rail is that the injectors are inline. The 4,0 deck height allowed for different spacing all together and is still a pia. There are square tubes that work better too.

It's certainly not a critical need I'll readily admit, so I'd never bother with fabbing up custom rails. The 4L rail is a totally different approach vs. the 2.9, so it's probably pie-in-the-sky thinking. But I thought I'd throw it out there just in case someone is crazier than me. :)
