I got an old 2.9 distributor that prolly isnt much good for anything else besides research.

Its yours for shipping cost.
Thank you! Let me check the price for one at pick n pull. I may hit you up on that!

I'll hit you up on that dizzy. They're $50 whole.
So correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the earlier 4.0's have an aluminum upper intake? Would anyone have an aluminum and plastic that the could set side by side a post a couple pictures of? I'm wondering one will provide more room than the other.

yes, the early 4.0's up to 1994 were aluminum. 1995 to when they stopped making them were plastic. to me, I think the aluminum ones sat about the same height, but from what I remember it looks like there may have been more room behind and below them. but that is going on a memory of searching for valve covers back in 2010 lol..

Id be very interested to try this. Though idk if the juice is worth the squeeze.
Well if it works, it's a gain of 20hp and 30ft lb torque with a couple mpg saved. If a guy has to replace their 2.9 to start with, there isn't a reason not to put a 4.0 in.

I have been on here quite awhile and have yet to see anybody do this.

The saying "if it is too good to be true it probably is" comes to mind.

If my 2.9 shits its getting another 2.9.

Genuinely interested in this. I have heard that there's a way to convert the 2.9 to edis or duraspark. Watching to see how this works out. Curious if I can take mine one way or the other.

I doubt duraspark would be an option as there would be no way for the ECM to control what it needs to control timing wise, as to my knowledge all durasparks are vacuum advanced.
