Hi all. I just finished up my 4.0 swap into my 89 ranger. The 4.0 came from a 92 explorer with an automatic. And ran great for the week and a half I drove it until the front seal on the tranny pooped out. Ranger is an 89 5 speed.
Starts and idles great, has excellent heat. But when I drive it. It fairly well stumbles or misfires under any engine load. I've gone over all my vaccum lines. Hosed everything down with brake clean, and carb and choke cleaner. Cleaned up the MAF and still no improvement. Tonight I was looking and listening. It idles at 1100 rpm but when I tapped on my IAC the idle jumped up to 1800 and never backed down. I know they get sticky but would the IAC being bad cause the engine to stumble under load? And help is greatly appreciated.
