Need to replace the pan gasket on my 4R55E due to leaks, figured I should do a full trans fluid flush but some say there is a drain and others say there is not on the tq converter for my truck. What's the correct answer?

So basically you use the transmission to pump itself clean.
How do you get the trans to pump itself clean? Run it with the pan off and let it fall into a pan?? Somehow that doesn't sound like the right thing to do.

Thanks

George

Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
I disconnect the trans outlet cooler hose from the radiator and connect some clear hose to it. With the hose ran into a bucket I crank and run the vehicle for 10 seconds then shut it off. Refill with fluid and repeat the process until bright red fluid comes out. I have done this many many times with good results.

I've recently become the owner of a somewhat unhappy 4R55E, and been reading a lot of old catchup (I wonder if that wriggly line would disappear if I spelled it ketchup)(it did) threads.
There are a lot of old threads having links with no destination, but I think this was the first one where the OP had scolded someone for not having clicked it ;)

Unless it's got contaminated or burned oil, there's really no reason to do a complete flush is there?

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
Not when it is green.

Then it's green and not red.
