HMOG!! Enter that Ford F3TZ... part # into Google, and all the "genuine" Ford parts places want $42-$51 for ONE SINGLE THIN FRIGGIN' O-RING!! Are these rated for Space Shuttle use??? INSANE!

... I smell Federal RICO violations... Crikey.

On a milder note, NAPA won't let me have just 2... they izz makin' me buy 5 of 'em... only a $1.69 each...

What do these o-rings do? I pulled my wheels off for a rotate/balance at the shop the other day and my hubs more or less came off with the wheels....does the o-ring keep the hubs in place?

No it seals the hub to the rotor once the wheel is torqued down. Keeps dirt and water out of your wheel bearings

Found your post through a Google search, and what a life saver it was. After being told by parts stores, 4X4 specialty shops and Ford that this O ring is NLA, I was desperate ! That NAPA # is perfect for my '93 Explorer.. Back on the road again.......

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I just ordered some from McMaster-Carr a few weeks ago. A bag of 50 O-rings was around $7 - $8 if I recall.

I had contacted Milemarker about replacements and the woman who answered my e-mail said she could sell me some but I wouldn't like the price. She then gave me the size (3.5" X 3/32") and said it also works to just use Permatex Ultra Black.

I now have 48 spare o-rings. Anybody want some?

The correct size for the factor hub o rings on the 1980-91 rangers is 3.109" I.D., 3.387"O.D this is the oring standard AS568-235. These can be purchased from Grainger in a pack of 10. Item #: 41UM71

Think I bought a pack of 25 from McMaster-Carr a few years ago. I'm set for life if I don't lose them.

Your 85 falls within the year range quoted. It would be for the d28.

If I'm understanding Duh PVH System correctly, the O-rings in question are also essential for the vacuum-actuation of the hubs on the '98-'00 Rangers. "Real" off-roaders sneer at the PVH hubs--and mine have been out of action for many years--but I liked them "back in the day", esp. for "in-town" and "short-term" 4-wheeling... like that time an epic traffic jam on the Interstate (rainy season) threatened to make me late for a job interview, BUT... flick the knob, and I'm off through the "YUUUGE" drainage swale (sugar sand + tall WET grass + Steep slope), onto the frontage road--flick knob back to 2WD--and on my merry way, shoes DRY and clean... "Git 'er DONE!" :sneaky:

PS: Mega-thanks again to the Original Poster for tracking down that NAPA equivalent Part #... KUDOS!
