- My credo
- I'm not afraid of dying, not living terrifies me!
1998 Ford Explorer 4.0/5R55E/Electric 4wd(full time auto, part time Hi and Lo), 3.73/31X10.50R15s. So today me and the boy decide to head out for a burger. About three miles or so from home we pull up to a 4way stop and as I go to pull out it gives a slight whirring noise and starts slipping BAD. I mean engine at 4K RPM and truck barely moving on level pavement. This is the first time an auto trans of any kind has died on me with absolutely NO warning. I keep a filter kit, and Mercon V on hand because I own three trucks with this trans so I can easily do a fluid change and a valve body kit if needed but wanted to see if there was any other guidance on things to look at before starting. I'm leaving Tuesday morning for a work conference so it will be a week or so before I can even touch it again. Help me TRS y'all my only hopes!!!!
