The 87 Ranger base pickup I recently picked up doesn't have a headliner, so, is that something that was normal for basic trucks back then to not come with a headliner from the factory? It doesn't look like there was a headliner ever in it, no trim pieces above the windshield that would have held it in, and no mounting holes where trim would have been installed. Not really worried about it, just wonder if that was something the base model trucks just weren't equipped with?

Funnily enough I was wondering the same, my 86 doesn't have any headliner either and like you doesn't look like it ever did.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Early base trucks (the Ranger S model) didn't have a headliner. I had a couple of those, until I worked up to being able to afford XLTs.

Mine is steel too.

Yep, that's what made reworking the roof of my '90 hard after I rolled it... No headliner means two layers of sheet metal so no metal work without pulling the whole roof! Just FYI, they look silly with the roof skin pulled...

My '88 Custom has a steel inner headliner, all of my others of various trim packages have cloth ones. I've never seen a steel headliner past '88 though - not sure it was even an option on 89 up, think they all had them. I'd prefer not to have one, they always fall apart.
