Hey everyone,

I know this will most likely be a repeated thread and question but I’ve spent nearly all day and haven’t come across a direct answer

I’m wanting to do a 5.0 swap on my 93 2wd 3.0 but I can’t seem to find a direct branch year for the explorer I should be searching for.

I would like to stay EFI as well as retaining a/c and all functions but essentially want to build it into a prerunner/project truck

Threads or links would be highly appreciated for this is all new to me

Thanks

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I would think a 96 to 01 would be the best donor, especially if you can find a 2wd Explorer which would be hard to do if you were in NH.

Awesome I appreciate it. Will I need to do an oil pan swap starter relocate or anything else just like the 2.3?

I suspect not but I'm not sure, the chassis in the Explorer is Ranger based.

I have a `96 Explorer 2WD V8 auto and a `96 2WD Splash auto that I'm doing a swap with. From what I can see and what I've read the 96 Explorer is a 96 Ranger from the cowl forward. Or vice versa I guess. I have another 5.0 long block I'm using instead of the donor V8 but I'll be able to use everything else like engine accessories, intake, computer, radiator, transmission etc in my Splash. Took quite a while to find a 2WD V8 Explorer. They're not exactly plentiful around here (southern Ontario).

So is it not possible to do the swap or what all is required? Because I was looking into doing a 96-01 5.0 explorer as well but I would pull motor trans harness and all
