OK here's an update

Called Fel-pro and found out that they make an in channel gasket part#. OS 30634R (no one seems to carry this one or has a listing for it and is special order)

Apparently according to the dealer 94 could have either an oil pan with or without the channel and 95 were all without channel. 94 being a transition year. Just FYI

This might be worthy of being a sticky ?

Man... sometimes those mid year changes bite you right in the butt... and on your fresh rebuild. Sure would have been nice to have the right stuff while it was on the stand. Seems like Fel-Pro should do a better job in their catalog to ensure you get the right part the first time.

I just stored this tid bit of information away for future reference.

even the master engine gasket set only had the wrong oil pan gasket for my application it fits but doesn't seal on oil pan with groove. also as i said there was no listing for the proper one for 94
