I'm deep into a 4.0 swap in my 87 ranger. I opted for swapping the dash out for the 94 explorer dash and was lead to believe it would be simple but I'm having trouble getting it to fit in the 87. It doesn't seem to want to push up the the windshield all the way, also only 2 of the 4 mounting points under the windshield look like they will even come close to lining up.

I've done a ton of searching around here and can only come up the write up on the tech page, which is just a basic overview and never actually completed, or people asking if the swap will work.

I'm at a loss guys any help would be much appreciated!

Something isn't line up right.

A 94 Explorer, at it's core, is just an 89-92 Ranger with extra room in the back seat.

Second gen Rangers used the same cab and firewall as the first gen, so it should work. There probably isn't much written about fitment issues because nobody ever has them.

I found that I had to bend some old mounting tabs in the corners and got it to sit almost far enough forward but still have the issue of the 2 mount points at the windshield not lining up. The two outer ones are about 2 inches too far towards the center. I suppose the dash would be fairly secure without them but I've just never heard of this issue.

My main issue is I would like to find more info on the small changes that need to be made. I have the big stuff figured out but I want to do this swap right.
